Porsche Fined INR 30 Lakh By Indian Consumer Court
The German luxury and sports car maker, Porsche has been ordered to pay a fine amounting to nearly INR 30 lakhs by the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for non delivery of vehicle.
The case went to the consumer court after a certain Mr.Nagdev lodged a complaint with the police when he did not get delivery of a Porsche Cayenne SUV. The customer had already paid the full amount of INR 87 lakhs for the vehicle in July 2011. However, for unknown reasons the booking was cancelled in October 2011, which equated to cheating.

Porsche offered to refund the full amount soon after the complaint was lodged. Nevertheless, the court has directed the automaker to pay a further INR 14,45,529 to the complainant to cover interest charges towards the loan he had taken. Furthermore, an additional INR 15 lakhs has to be paid by Porsche as compensation.
Porsche India has witnessed a very profitable business in India, and the Cayenne SUV is one the best selling models in the country. The best ever sales was recorded during the month of October 2012 when the company delivered 117 units to customers.
