Nissan ZEOD RC Electric For 24 Hours of Le Mans
Nissan, a pioneer in electric mobility, wants to show the world what a properly developed electric car is capable of. The instrument of choice is a prototype racing car that is based on the design of the Deltawing. And like the Deltawing, ZERO RC will debut at next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Nissan engineers are already calling the ZEOD RC "world's fastest racing car", which is capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h. Based on solely how the car looks, we'll say we believe every world Nissan says.
ZEOD RC is actually an abbreviation of "Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car". We infer it means the race car can switch between electric and conventional fuel easily. However, the question one should ask is how Nissan will manage to achieve the speed it claims. No technical details have been made public yet. The automaker still has a full year at hand to develop the ZEOD RC to perfection though.
"Developing a car like this provides an incredibly challenging test bed for what could be highly effective options for road cars of the future," Ben Bowlby, Nissan's new director of motorsport innovation said. "Throughout the next 12 months we will be testing multiple drivetrain options in an extensive test program."
Here's hoping the Nissan ZEOD RC does not suffer the same fate as the Deltawing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
