Nissan Price Hike Announced For India

By Ganesh

Nissan has announced its decision to hike prices of selected models which it sells in India. The increase in price will range from two to four percent depending on the model.

According to Nissan's official statement, the decision to bump prices is a direct result of rupee depreciation and escalating manufacturing costs. The latest price hike will come into effect from January 2014.

Nissan models that will be affected by the increase in price are Micra, Micra Active, Sunny, Evalia and the new Terrano.

"Although the rupee situation seems to have stabilised, the higher exchange rate has impacted costs all-round, making price increase inevitable. Inflation-led rise in input costs and raw materials costs also cannot be ignored at this point. The price increase is marginal and we assure our valued customers that we will continue to offer them globally renowned products at affordable prices," said Richard D Spitzer, Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO), Hover Automotive India (Nissan's National Sales Company).
