Nissan Datsun Launch Confirmed For July 15
The first Datsun model will be a compact hatchback known by its codename K2. The distinguishing characteristics of all Datsun models, including the first hatchback that will built on the Micra platform, will be their premium styling. The center of the design highlight will be the brand's hexagonal grille design, which the company revealed earlier this year.
Th Datsun hatchback will be priced below the INR 4 lakhs mark and thus will be in a position to take on a whole host of compact cars from Maruti hatchbacks to Chevy Beat, Spark and Hyundai i10. To shine in a crowded segment such as this is no easy task as has been proven several times in the past.
The world premier of Datsun brand will be held in Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon on July 15. Carlos Ghosn, President of Renault Nissan himself is expected to preside over the event. Besides India, Nissan will sell the Datsun branded hatchback in Russia, Indonesia and South Africa.
