Toyota To Reveal New Corolla On June 6
An all new Toyota Corolla, sold as Corolla Altis in India, will be revealed on June 6. The new Corolla sedan, codenamed E160 will be based on the Corolla Furia concept car that the Japanese automaker showcased at the Detroit Motor Show early this year.
The Corolla Furia concept design is Toyota's attempt at turning the Corolla more lively and appealing to a younger crowd. The existing Corolla design could be considered a title too bland for everyones tastes. The upcoming Corolla will take care of this shortcoming by featuring a bold design, with ample amounts of creases and folds.
Nevertheless, as is always the case with transmissions from concept form to production, the new Corolla will not look as adventurous as the Furia concept. The basic sporty look will be retained thought.
Design features we presume that will not make it to production include the LED fog lamps integrated within the front fold and the dual tone exterior with black side borders. While the front grille will mostly be retained the narrow, futuristic headlights will most likely be more conventional. We'll have to wait and see if the dual integrated exhaust outlets make it to production.
Expect the same 1.8 liter petrol and diesel, and the 1.4 liter diesel engines from the current generation to be slightly upgraded to improve present standards.
Transmission options available will likely remain intact as well.
Improved vehicle efficiency and driving experience are to be expected.
The interior should come with several changes. Such as more optional equipments and a modern touch screen infotainment system.
Expect the new Toyota Corolla to hit Indian shores by early or mid 2014.
