The first race of round 4 of the 2013 Auto GP World Series held on June 1st at the Silverstone Circuit turned out to be day Narain Karthikeyan would go on to win his first Auto GP race. Karthikeyan races for the team Super Nova International, along with teammate Vittorio Ghirelli. Karthikeyan finished the race in second position, but was promoted to first post race due to a time penalty slapped on initially winner Kevin Giovesi.

Karthikeyan performance was impressive throughout the weekend. He was the fastest during practice and that form was carried over to qualifying where he won pole position. In fact, Karthikeyan led on race day for the first 11 laps and had put a significant gap between himself and the others. However, after the 11th lap he had to pit for the obligatory tyre change, during which he lost 4 seconds due to problems during tyre change.

Karthikeyan exited the pit, now behind Giovesi and went on to complete the race in second position. After the race Giovesi was awarded a one-minute time penalty since he pitted during the last lap, something which is not allowed. Thus resulting in Karthikeyan winning his first Auto GP race.

"I'm glad I got my first victory in Auto GP. I immediately found a good feeling with the car on a track like Silverstone and I managed to get the most from the package we had at our disposal," said Narain Karthikeyan.
