Mercedes-Benz Vision Golf Cart Of The Future
Golf carts are not the most exciting four wheelers, that we all agree, but is it absolutely necessary for them to be boring and uninspiring? Certainly not. With the same idea in mind Mercedes-Benz set up a design competition ahead of the upcoming British Open.
Automobile enthusiasts and golfers were asked to submit their ideas about how the Mercedes Benz golf cart of the future should be like. Based on these ideas the German automaker has released sketches of the Mercedes-Benz Vision Golf Cart concept.
Design
Its most striking feature is its futuristic looking transparent design. It still wears the current generation Mercedes ‘diamond' grille design like the latest Merc road vehicles. Headlights are LED units.
Seating
As you can see, it can comfortably seat two and features sweeping seats on which to lounge.
Features
Storage compartments have been provided for two golf bags. Plus, there are slots for umbrellas, sand bottle, a glove compartment and a small boot space.
Motor
Wheel mounted electric motors are powered by lithium-ion batteries, which also get charged through solar cells on the roof panel. The vehicle is supported by double A-arm suspensions.
Vanity features
A few vanity features have been envisioned as well, such as a makeup mirror, cooler/warmer refrigerator, heated seats etc.
Interior
The coolest features are on the inside though. Steering happens via a joystick, placed on a center console running between the seats, so that either of the occupants can steer it. Multimedia needs are covered by a speaker system and smartphone/tablet connectivity options via USB and Bluetooth. Lastly, an advanced futuristic head-up display will provide all sorts of information, ranging from weather to comprehensive detail about an on going game.
