Mercedes India Marketing & Sales Director Quits

Mercedes-Benz India, Marketing and Sales Director, Debashis Mitra has left the organization in search of better pastures, according to a PTI report. In its statement the automaker has said that Mr. Mitra had decided to put down his paper "in pursuit of improving his career prospects"

"Accordingly, Mitra has resigned from the company and we are in the process of deciding the succession plan", the official statement read.

"I have had a good innings with Mercedes-Benz India. The brand has grown significantly and it is time for me to move on. It has been good five years of association with the company" Mr. Mitra told in a statement. While it is clear Mr. Mitra will stay in the automotive sector he has not reveal his future plans. " "I have a few options and one of them is in the automotive sector," he added.

Interestingly, Mr. Mitra's resignation follows the entry of Eberhard H Kern into Mercedes Benz India as the Managing Director and CEO three months earlier. The German automaker has been growing with significant pace in the country and plans to launch 13 new global models in the country by the year 2015. The automaker's aim is to become the top luxury brand in the country by 2016.
