Mercedes-Benz Deepens Google Maps Integration
At the ongoing Google I/O developers conference in San Francisco, California, the technology giant showcased several updates to its Google Maps. These updates will soon make their way into Mercedes Benz vehicles, which will be demonstrated by Mercedes Benz on a SLK at the conference.
Mercedes Benz Drive Kit Plus system, in conjunction with the DriveStyle app, currently lets us connect an iPhone with the Mercedes COMAND infotainment system. This allows the user to control multimedia features, and social media apps on the vehicle's touch screen or using voice command. With the upcoming update the new Google Maps API will also be integrated into the DriveStyle app under the 'Place' selection.
The new features, showcased on the SLK will make their way into all Merc models equipped with the Drive Kit Plus system. Learn about the new Google Maps features coming to DriveStyle app in the gallery below.

Google StreetView, which provides 360 degree view of certain locations.

Enhanced local search, which will now also mark nearby related places on the map.

Traffic data, that will update in real time and inform the user about an alternate route.

Radar View, a feature that marks locations with a concentration of restaurants and bars to make determining a handout point much easier and quicker.

The DriveStyle app presently works only with an iPhone 4/4S, with iPhone 5 support on its way. Mercedes has not said anything about Android smartphone support.
