Mercedes A45 AMG India Arrival Planned?
Now that India almost has the full range of Mercedes luxury hatchbacks, the A Class and the B Class, how about moving on to the pocket rocket that is the A45 AMG? According to Autocar the Germans are actually looking into the feasibility of launching the AMG version of the A Class in the country.
There is only one major hurdle though. For any car to be imported without homologating it for Indian roads it needs to have a Freight On Board price of above US$40,000 or an engine larger than 3.0 liter. Since the A45 AMG does not fulfill either of these criterias it can only be introduced in the country after making extensive changes. And the process of homologation is an expensive one.

What makes this rather small Merc so potent is the 2.0 liter engine has been fitted with a turbocharger and returned so that it can manage 355 HP and 450 Nm. You can see it in action at the end of the slide in an AutoExpress video.

Add to that, an SLS AMG derived 7 speed dual clutch speedshift DCT 7 transmission that powers all four wheels via AMG's 4matic all wheel drive system. In the end you have a spectacular hot hatch that can give even full fledged sports cars twice its price a run for their money.

It can after all do a 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h. There is more than just speed to this compact sports car.

An AMG model means the A45 also receives the full performance package which includes sturdier sports suspensions, massive 18 inch wheels and large and imposing brake calipers painted red.
