McLaren P13 Will Be A Sub MP4-12C Model
McLaren recently launched the F1 successor, the P1 hypercar at the Geneva Motor Show. The P1 is the pinnacle of automotive engineering, but now the British automaker is developing a car in the other end of the spectrum, says Motortrend.
The new car that is under development is called P13, according to the report and will be placed below McLaren's other car, the MP4-12C. The P13 will be a regular production sports car that will rival cars such as the Porsche 911 and is expected to reach an estimated sales target of 2000 to 2500 cars a year.

McLaren will have to do a balancing act when it comes to pricing the P13, since it has to make sure the new car does not cannibalize MP4-12C sales. To this end, the P13 is expected to be have a price tag of not more than $200,000, falling well below the MP4-12C's starting price of $250,000.
In terms of hardware the P13 will most definitely use a less powerful version of the twin turbocharged V8 that powers the 12C. And in terms of design the P13 will take more to the McLaren P1.
Exact details about the launch period is not known, but the P13 could be expected to have an early 2014 launch.
