Maruti Swift Platinum Edition By Kalyani Motors
Maruti Suzuki Platinum Edition is a special edition model, not from the manufacturer, but a dealership. That's right. This extensively modified Swift hatchback is the work of Kalyani Motors, a major Maruti Suzuki dealership from South of India.
It is common practice for dealers in the West to offer modified special edition vehicles, but the practice is catching up fast in India. Usually, dealers modify models which are not selling well or to empty their inventory. But in this case Kalyani Motors is offering the "Platinum Edition" model of Swift, a hatchback that has no trouble moving out of showrooms.
Suzuki Platinum Edition gets a black and white colour scheme, with all the plastic bits in contrasting black. The grille and the lower airdam are in silver.
The exterior gets a full plastic body kit, consisting of a lowered front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts - all in glossy black.
There's even a black tipped rear spoiler that's mounted on the roof. The roof wears a black wrap, which goes well with the contrasting white body.
However, the major attraction has to be the lights. Both the front and rear lights feature LED units. The front also gets LED daytime running lights, complementing, what looks like projector headlamps. The headlamps are blacked out for added effect.
Also notice the LED lamps on the spoiler and LED brake lamps. Remaining exterior features include, black outside rear view mirror caps and attractive grey ‘Swift' graphics on the sides.
The modifications add faux leather seat covers, an Alpine stereo system, with a Sony four speaker system.
Understandably, no mechanical modifications have been made to the car. However, the visual changes are quite extensive. The only bit that does not appeal to us is the silver front grille.
Swift Platinum Edition by Kalyani Motors is available for all variants and will come for a premium of INR 1,45,950 over the cost of the standard car.
