WagonR Stingray From Maruti Suzuki Coming Soon
[Update: Launching on August 21st] Maruti Suzuki India Limited is not too bothered by the industry slowdown in the country because the small car segment is mostly unaffected. The company maintains high sales numbers, thanks to the Alto. There is, however, one model that is feeling the pinch.

WagonR Stingray is a premium variant of the WagonR that has been available in Japan since 2007. The latest generation was launched last year.
WagonR Stingray is a sportier and muscular version of the WagonR and comes with several premium interior features and also has better build quality. WagonR Stingray even gets alloy wheels as standard in Japan.
While the overall shape is still retained, WagonR Stingray features a restyled front fascia, with a sporty chrome strip that runs between the headlamps, and thinner and deeper headlamps.
WagonR Stingray will be offered with a variety of interior colour options as well. Also, the gearshift lever in the StingRay is placed on the dashboard.
According to ET sources, the WagonR Stingray will be sold alongside the regular WagonR, as a high end variant.
Trials are being conducted for an India launch and is expected to be announced in a couple of months, according to these sources.
As for the engine, it is speculated that WagonR Stingray will get the 1.1 liter K Series unit that features in the A-Star and Alto K10. In Japan, the Stingray is powered by a 600cc unit, which will certainly not be introduced in India.
