Porsche Names Maria Sharapova As Brand Ambassador
The German sports car maker Porsche has a new brand ambassador in the form of women's tennis ace Maria Sharapova. The 26 year old Russian born Sharapova has been signed for a three year contract, which will also see her campaign for the car brand across the globe. Sharapova already owns a white 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, which was gifted to her for winning the 2012 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, held in Stuttgart.
Porsche's choice of a female tennis star as brand ambassador might seem strange to some. But it should be noted that Porsche is associated with Germany's national women's tennis team, which represents the country under the name Porsche Team Germany in the Fed Cup. Porsche also supports young, emerging players through Porsche Talent Team Germany.
