Mahindra Special Edition Scorpio Takes Up Stage
Remember the special edition Mahindra Scorpio that we told you about yesterday? It hasn't taken Mahindra long to unveil the special edition SUV. As expected, every thing ‘special' about this Scorpio is expected and the same as the one from the 2010 model.
Exterior
Mahindra has tried to add some excitement to the veteran SUV by fitting it with chrome plated alloy wheels, chequered flag decals on the bumper and the sides and a ‘Special Edition' sticker on the rear.
Interior
Moving on to the interior, as we suspected earlier, we get a lot of leather. The leather upholstery comes in tan and beige colours and it also covers the steering wheel and gear shift knob. The center console has been done in wood, with a glossy finish. Finishing off the ‘up-market' interior is a roof mounted DVD player accompanied with a 9 inch display.
Engine
The engine being provided with the special edition Scorpio is the 2.2 litre mHawk version of the diesel engine, which delivers 120 HP power and 290 Nm of torque onto the tarmac. The transmission is a 5-speed manual unit.
Mahindra has not specified the pricing yet, but production of the special edition Scorpio will be limited to just 500 units. You can visit the website and book one for yourself.
Scorpio, introduced in 2002, has been a phenomenal success for Mahindra. The medium size SUV, which comes in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations was the unchallenged master in its segment until recently. Arrival of compact SUV from Ford and Renault has had its impact on Scorpio. But Mahindra plans to plough forward with the special edition, a facelift next year, followed by an all new Scorpio in 2015.
