Mahindra Working On New Platforms; 4 New Models Expected
In a bid to maintain their lead, in the UV segment. Mahindra is developing new platforms for it's upcoming models in the future.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, automotive and farm equipment, explains their designers and engineers are developing four new platforms. Consisting of ‘Utility Vehicles', ‘Sports Utility Vehicles', Small and Light commercial vehicles.
Dr. Goenka believes when a new product is launched, there is a need to have more models in other sub-segments no matter, which category they fall in.

These models will be ready by 2015, but may hit showrooms later in 2016. The new platforms are an effort to capture top honours in the UV segment. Also, enabling good products in the sub-segment of the existing line up.
Mahindra plans to launch a compact SUV based on its XUV500 platform. Code named Mahindra S101, could be a breakthrough product, competing against the Ford EcoSport. The Scorpio, however is bound for a facelift in the coming year.
The Nashik based company is working on a new LCV model, which will rival Tata Motor products by 2016.
Mahindra's new platforms, will serve as a foundation for it's new generation of the Bolero, Scorpio and Xylo by late 2016.
