Mahindra Rexton Production Boosted To Cut Waiting

Mahindra has revealed it is planning to increase the Rexton's production by 500 units this January in an effort to reduce waiting period. Pravin Shah, CEO of Mahindra's automotive division said the Rexton's waiting period which is currently around 4 to 8 weeks will come down considerable following the production boost.
Mahindra has received more than 1,300 bookings for the Rexton until December 2012. Demand for premium SUVs has been high and models such as the Ssangyong Rexton and XUV 500 now have long waiting periods.
The Ssangyong Rexton was launched in India with two variants. The entry level RX5 variant with manual transmission is priced at INR 17 lakhs and the top end RX7 with automatic transmission has been priced at INR 19.75 lakhs.
Mahindra had said it was looking at having an annual production capacity of 5,000 units for the Rexton when it was launched. This number is bound to increase further if demand for the premium SUV continues to be high.
