Koenigsegg One:1 Top Speed To Exceed Bugatti Veyron, Says CEO
Koenigsegg One:1 is an upcoming hypercar model from the Swedish exoctic car maker, based on the existing Agera R model. Rendering of the One:1 surfaced on the internet months back, but details about yet to be launched car are not known.
Recently, Businessweek got an opportunity to speak to Koenigsegg boss Christian von Koenigsegg, when he revealed some truly staggering bits of information about the One:1.
Koenigsegg One:1 has not been made yet, but the goal is to achieve what its name says. "One:1" which implies a power to weight ratio of 1:1. Production cars which have claimed that magical power to weight ratio do not take into account the weight of the driver and the fuel and water on board.
The One:1, however, will have a turbo V8 engine producing 1400 HP and all that power will have to propel a car weighing 1400 kg. And that weight is of a fully loaded One:1, including the driver. If Koenigsegg manages to achieve this it will be world's first production car with a 1:1 power to weight ratio.
The most exciting part is not even that. As per scientific calculation conducted by Koenigsegg the One:1 should be capable of exceeding speeds of 450 km/h, shattering Bugatti Veyron Super Sport's top speed world record.
And that's still not the most astonishing bit. Koenigsegg says, One:1 will have the following performance figures:
It will be the fastest production car from
0 to 200 km/h (124 mph),
0 to 300 km/h (186 mph), and lastly, from
0 to 400 km/h (248 mph).
Unbelievably, the 400 km/h mark will be crossed in only 20 seconds!! That's the jaw dropping part. To put into perspective, the Bugatti Veyron takes 45 seconds (!!) to reach 400 km/h.
So, say you had the money and want to place an order for one. Do not bother. Only six of these insanely fast One:1 hypercars will be made and all six of them are already taken. As for the price, it will be the most expensive Koenigsegg till date. Expected price tag could be $2 million.
