Brand New Wheels For The New Karnataka Government
Multi Utility Vehicles are the prefered vehicles for the political class. Ministers from the newly elected Karnataka government will hence be seen driving brand new MPVs as well as high-end SUVs which are already on there way.
The
Department
of
Personnel
and
Administrative
Reforms
(DPAR),
which
is
tasked
with
acquiring
new
government
vehicles
has
already
initiated
the
process.
It
turns
out
the
procurement
procedure
had
been
initiated
even
before
the
new
government
was
elected
since
it
was
started
under
the
Jagadish
Shettar
government.
Following
are
the
new
vehicles
that
will
used
by
our
politicos.
Toyota Fortuner will be Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's official vehicle. The rugged and luxurious SUV is worth INR 24 lakhs.
Toyota Innovas will be provided for official use by Cabinet Ministers. The MPV is capable of seating up to 8 people and come for INR 14 lakhs each. Twenty of these large MPVs have been ordered.
Honda CR-V was the official ride of ex-CM Yeddyurappa. Sadanand Gowda also used a Honda CR-V and so did the previous CM Jagadish Shettar. DPAR officials say new vehicles are procured for every new government regardless of the condition of existing vehicles.
The old vehicles are generally sent to discrists for use by lower ranking officials.
The eight ministers of the state, meanwhile, will use second hand vehicles of their choice that were in use during the previous government.
For the procurement of vehicle for the new Congress government DPAR has spent INR 2.87 crore.
