India Will Be In Audi's Top 10 Markets By 2015

With an impressive sales performance in 2012 amidst challenging conditions, Audi India has gained in confidence. The same confidence has lead to Audi India setting itself a target of increasing sales by 20% this year.
Audi India head Michael Perschke has stated that India is one of the top 10 strategic markets in the world despite low sales volumes. India ranks 22nd in terms of sales for Audi but the potential to grow has made the country one of the most important markets for Audi.
Mr Perschke is expecting India to grow significantly during the next few years and expects it to reach the 6th or 7th position in Audi's best selling countries by 2020. He added that Audi India will be introducing five new products in India following the new Q5. Some of the most notable new launches will be the new R8 sports car and the S6 performance sedan.
The new Audi Q5 has already received 250 bookings within days of its launch. The Q range of premium SUVs are expected to account for Audi India's 40% of sales in 2013.
Evincing confidence in the potential of India as a premium car market, Mr Michael Perschke has said Audi was very bullish about India and would be finalising details about its investment plans for the next five years by the middle of this year. Audi had invested 30 million euros in the past five years.
Audi India will soon begin assembling the Q3 SUV in India. The existing demand for the premium SUV has lead to the company's decision. Audi is planning to expand its dealer network to 32 to 34 showrooms by the end of this year.
