Hyundai India Confirms At Least Three New Models

Seo told TOI that the company's plans to get into the compact SUV and MPV segment is based on the current automobile environment where compact SUVs and crossover vehicles are selling well. In his statement Seo mentioned Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Duster compact SUVs to support his view.
Beside these two segments Hyundai plans to create a whole new category by launching a hatchback model that will be placed above the i10 and below the i20. "It will create a completely new segment and will have better pick-up and performance than the i10 segment", said Seo told TOI.
The hatchback, which is currently being road tested, will most likely have a 1.1 liter diesel unit.
Seo told TOI, "We have invested $300 million in a new diesel-gasoline flexible plant which has a 3,00,000-unit capacity. The flexi assembly line future-proofs us from any changes in the government's fuel policy, while at the same time it protects us from currency fluctuation since we no longer import diesel engines."
