Hyundai i10 Automatic, Kappa2 Engine To Be Discontinued?
If you have been following the latest development in Indian auto industry closely you'll know that Hyundai India launched the next gen i10 (Grand i10), while still keeping the older gen model. Internationally though, the new i10 (without the Grand prefix) has replaced the older model.
The Grand i10 lineup, placed between the older i10 and the i20, offers the 1.2 liter Kappa2 petrol engine, a 1.1 liter three cylinder diesel engine as well as an automatic variant. This has resulted in the higher end i10 variants pricing to clash with the pricing of Grand i10 variants.

The recent price hike by Hyundai, which affects all models except the Grand i10, has further increased the chance of top end i10 models cannibalising into the sales of the former.
The automaker, as a result, has decided to stop offering Hyundai i10 Kappa2 engine powered Sportz and Asta variants, reports Overdrive. In addition, the automatic variant of i10 will also be discontinued, to ensure anyone seeking an automatic is forced to go for the Grand i10.

This leaves the i10 lineup with D-Lite, Era and Magna variants, powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE petrol engine (LPG and CNG variants included) and five speed manual transmission.
If this is true it would be wise a decision to get an automatic i10 before existing stocks at dealership goes dry.
