Hertz Introduces Waterless Car Washing For Its Fleet
Hertz, the world's largest car rental company has a unique problem. To clean its entire car fleet, several thousand strong, requires a lot of water. And that's not good for company trying to maintain its green credentials.
The solution is waterless car washing systems. Hertz has announced it will move to waterless car washing with the introduction of 220 such facilities in the United States.
Waterless car washing formula was developed by Green Team Partners and is made up of non-toxic, biodegradable, hyper concentrated solution.

"An entire car can be washed with 6 to 8 ounces of a proprietary, environmentally friendly, fully biodegradable solution, in approximately 8 minutes. After the solution is sprayed onto the car, the specially formulated molecules envelop the dirt particles, lifting them away from the car's paint," Hertz says. "A high quality microfiber towel is then used to wipe the lifted dirt particles off the surface. A second clean microfiber towel is used to polish the surface, leaving behind a shiny protective coating that preserves the clear coat and paint."
Soon, Hertz will expand waterless car washing facilities to nearly 3,700 locations across the U.S and Europe. In this way Hertz will be able to save more than 492 million liters of water in a year. "Moving to a waterless car wash system is another innovative way Hertz is addressing both its sustainability and business needs. We have been able to achieve significant environmental and cost savings while continuing to offer customers the best fleet in the industry." Hertz chairman and CEO, Mark P. Frissora.
