McLaren F1 Designer Gordon Murray Confirms T25, T27 For 2016
Going by Gordon Murray's reputation one would expect a revolution in the micro city car segment in 2016. This is when the T.25 and T.27 designs developed by Murray will go into production, as confirmed by the famed designer himself.
For those who are not familiar, Gordon Murray is the legendary designer of the legendary supercar McLaren F1. The South African car designer and his design firm Gordon Murray Design have not come out with a major product after the ex-world's fastest production car. The T.25 and the T.27, on the other hand are far from supercars. If anything, they are the exact opposites.

"The T25 and T27 concept has now been sold to a customer (firm that will build the cars) and with a following wind a lot more drivers should be able to enjoy the centre drive experience in 2016," Murray has said.

The T.25 design concept was revealed by Murray few years back. The vehicle is a 600cc city car with 1+2 seating configuration. Just like in the McLaren F1, the driver sits at the center, while the other two seats are placed behind. The engine goes behind, driving the rear wheels.

The T.27 is the same as the T.25 other than being a pure electric vehicle. The battery powered T.27 has a claimed range of 130 km to 160 km on a single charge. The T.25 and T.27 concepts are all about saving space, reducing pollution.

The new micro cars, Murray says, will be as safe as any other existing road car, while still being lighter than any other car in their segment. This would be possible due to a special production technique called iStream, also developed by Murray.

The iStream production technique not only results in safe cars, but also reduces production capital investment by 80 percent.

iStream, which is not limited to producing small cars such as the T.25, will also require less energy and production space.

The cost cutting production technique will allow T.25 and T.27 to be sold for about $10,000, while still providing a healthy margin of profit for the manufacturer.
