Chevrolet Spark (Beat) Facelift Confirmed
There is good news and bad news. General Motors will be launching the next generation Chevrolet Spark (or Beat as we know it). But the facelift will come only in the beginning of 2015, reports Reuters.
Chevy Beat, introduced internationally in 2009 has not done too badly in India, but has been even better received in other countries, mostly due to its compact, yet sporty look. South Korea, where the Spark is manufactured, for the local and export markets (U.S, Europe & Uzbekistan), has sold 215,177 units so far.

While internationally, the Chevy Spark has received a facelift, the Indian Beat has remained unchanged since its launch. Except for the recent minor upgrade it received, when the interior was revamped and high adjustable seats were added. This gives us hope that before the next gen Spark comes out in 2015, the Indian Chevy Beat could at least receive a few more updates to extend its shelf life.
Its not just the Chevy Spark's shelf life which GM is looking to extend. The Aveo, also known as the Sonic, is another model which will get a delayed update, only by 2016 (it was 2015 before).
"The management said it originally planned to launch the redesigned Aveo in late 2015, but the plan was pushed back. It also said it will produce the new Spark in the first half of 2015," GM Korea spokesman Choi Jong-hak informed Reuters.
The same goes for the Cruze sedan. GM wants the very popular sporty sedan to hang on until the end of 2015, due to some ‘engineering changes'. By doing so GM will in fact, extract more profit since an old model needs a lot less investment.
