2013 Formula 1 Airtel Indian Grand Prix Trophy - Design Facts
The trophy for the 2013 Formula 1 Airtel Indian Grand Prix has been revealed. Like last year this year's trophy has also been designed by well known bangalore based industrial designer Michael Foley. He was the same man who designing the Commonwealth Games Queen's baton.
Unveiling this year's F1 Airtel Indian Grand Prix trophy are (seen from left to right) Mohit Beotra, Chief Brand Officer, Bharti Airtel, Sameer Gaur, MD and CEO, Jaypee Sports International, Pasquale Lattuneddu, Formula One Management. Following are some interesting design facts about this year's Indian Grand Prix trophy.

The trophy's design incorporates modern and a distinctly Indian characteristics. The prominent features are the vertical metal slivers which surround a central aluminium apine.

The trophy consists of 24 slivers, which represent the 24 spokes of the Ashoka Chakra.

Embedded in the gaps between the metal slivers are tri-colour inserts representing the Indian flag.

The blend of metallic red, silver and black colors has been achieved through ion plating & anodising methods.

The trophy is most made of aircraft grade aluminium which is extremely light. Only the base and the central plaque are made from stainless steel.
