Ford EcoSport Base Variant Has No Safety Features
Other than the expected low starting price and the introduction of EcoBoost engine, one celebrated distinguishing factor that has made a quite a few headlines is Emergency Assist, Ford's Sync based safety features, which proved its effectiveness last month.
However, with EcoSport booking having already started and launch day nearing soon buyers should be aware that Ford Sync Emergency Assist will not be available for the first two variants - Ambiente and Trend. In fact, the base variant, Ambiente will hit the roads with absolutely no safety features and Trend only gets the most basic safety features. This information comes to light ahead of its launch thanks to a brochure leaked by The Automotive India.
Ford EcoSport Ambiente, the least expensive variant is expected to be offered between INR 5 and 6 lakhs. This variant will be missing the following safety features: ABS, driver assists features such as EBA, ESC, TCS and HLA, driver airbag, passenger airbag, side and curtain airbags, emergency assist, configurable speed alarm in fuel computer, ISOFIX (attachment assists for child safety seats), rear parking sensors, and emergency brake hazard warning.
Ford EcoSport Trend, the next variant only gets ABS and emergency brake hazard warning.
The exclusion of basic safety features such as driver seat airbags in the base trim does not come as a surprise since Indian road safety laws does not make it obligatory, unlike European laws.
