Ford's EcoBoost Engine Coming To India

Ford's EcoBoost engines are turbocharged, direct injected, petrol units, which offer high fuel efficiency. Petrol engines, when compared to hybrid and diesel engines, generally deliver low fuel efficiency. EcoBoost engines are an exception, however. Ford's EcoBoost technology, combined with the turbocharger, enables even small displacement engines to produce relatively good power and torque figures that would normally require larger displacement engines.
Ford first began production of EcoBoost engines in 2009 and since then these engines have been used to power a wide variety of Ford four wheeler models, including the F150 trucks. The most successful model featuring the EcoBoost engine is the Ford Fusion sedan, which has won several auto awards. Ford even has demonstrated the engine's abilities by using it in a Formula Ford Racer.
EcoBoost engines come in different variants such as L3 1.0 liter, L4 1.6 liters, L4 2.0 liters and V6. but in India the Ford EcoSport SUV will arrive powered by the 1.0 liter variant. EcoBoost engines are generally priced higher than the company's other engines for obvious reasons, but in India, the EcoSport compact SUVs will be priced aggressively.
