Ford EcoSport Diesel Recalled Over Glow Plug Issue
That was rather soon. Ford has issued recalls for its EcoSport diesel variants only after two weeks of launching the much hyped compact SUV. The Ford EcoSport diesel models have been recalled over an issue which has to do with glow plug placement.
Ford reportedly found, during a routine check, that the glow plug control module in the EcoSport diesel, currently fitted under the front bumper, is in a location where it can easy get wet and short circuit. Ford has not revealed how many affected EcoSports are out on the road already, but that number is sure to be small.
Owners have been asked to take their EcoSport diesel crossovers to dealerships who will relocate the glow plugs to a more suitable location, where they can be kept dry.
A glow plug looks similar to a spark plug, but is used only by diesel vehicles. Glow plugs do not ignite fuel. Instead, they bring engines to optimal operational temperature, especially when cold starting. This is critical since diesel engines do not use spark plugs and are required to heat air to combust fuel. Glow plugs are so named because their tips glow when they heat up.

According to ET the number of affected vehicles is 972.
