Ford EcoSport Bookings Open For Rs.50,000

Ford is planning to launch the EcoSport in India after one year of the compact SUV being unveiled for the first time during the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Although there has been no confirmed date about the EcoSport's launch, Ford dealers have already started taking in bookings.

The EcoSport's bookings should be a good sign for people waiting for the compact SUV. Some Ford dealers have already received the first batch of the compact SUV. The Ford EcoSport has been tested across the country since one year and it is high time the compact SUV gets launched.

We had earlier reported about the Ford EcoSport's booking being opened by dealers unofficially in December. Then the dealers did not have the car for a test drive. Now with the arrival of a few units, interested buyers can book the EcoSport after a nice look at its performance, looks and handling.

The EcoSport's booking amount is Rs.50,000 in certain dealers. The EcoSport's price is expected to start from Rs.9 lakhs. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The notable aspect about the EcoSport is its Ecoboost petrol engine that delivers high performance while consuming less fuel.

The Ford EcoSport is expected to be launched by Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. Ford has already invited her to the event. The official launch date will be confirmed in a few days. Some say the EcoSport could be launched as early as this month it self.

The Ford EcoSport's price will be the most anticipated titbit about the car. Ford has to price the EcoSport intelligently if it wants its compact SUV to be competitive against its rivals such as the Renault Duster. Ford was criticized for over pricing the Fiesta sedan and we hope Ford has not repeat the same mistake in case of the EcoSport.

Deliveries of the new EcoSport Compact SUV are expected to begin in March or early April 2013.
