Indian National Rally Championship Starts March 22
The FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship kickstarts on Friday, March 22nd with the AVT Premium South India Rally. Organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club, the South India Rally will go on till March 24th. For the 2013 season five championship events have been included which is one more than the usual.
These categories include Indian Rally Championship, Indian National Rally Championship (INRC), INRC 1600 Championship, Junior INRC and the newly introduced Indian SUV Rally Championship. The South India Rally is round 1 of the 7 round National Championship.
Friday's race will consist of three stages, which will be divided between Madras motor track, AAVISA and the IVCRL, and each stage will be run three times. Total length of the stretch is 300 km, 117 of which will be Special Stages, where speed is the criteria.
The course consists of three dirt tracks: AAVISA (17 km), the IVCRL (11 km) and the Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumpudur (9 km)
Manoj Dalal, Clerk of Course, AVT South India Rally said, "This is the opening round of the 2013 INRC championship and we are keen to create a benchmark for the rest of the season. After a long time the entry list includes some of the leading manufacturers in the country and we hope to attract even more. We were fortunate to have National Racing Champion Arjun Balu test the stages, and more importantly he was very impressed with all the stages. We are keen to improve the show every year and hope the drivers enjoy this challenge."
