DC Design Indian Auto Expo 2014 Plans Revealed
Automobile customiser DC Design is in a phase of transformation when its trying to establish itself as luxury car manufacturer that will cater to a niche crowd. As part of this transformation, the Dilip Chhabria run car customization house will showcase two new models at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2014 in Delhi.
One of the two models will be a convertible SUV capable of seating four. Speaking to Financial Express, Chhabria described the SUV as drop dead gorgeous, but with an irrational dimension.
The second model will be an extremely small car which will be smaller than Tata Nano. This car will measure under seven feet long and as such will have space for just two occupants.
Do not expect DC's new cars to come cheap though. Both cars will be rich on luxury and comfort and will carry a price tag between INR 18 lakhs and INR 40 lakhs. The two new concept cars will enter production only in the next couple of years.
Apart from the two new models, February will also be the month when DC Design will deliver the first 25 Avanti sports cars. Avanti is powered by the Ford 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine that generates 240 HP. The car, weighing 1,562 kg, is said to be capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in under 7 seconds.
Starting from June 2014, DC will begin full fledged production of the Avanti at its Talegaon manufacturing facility in Pune. Though, the compact sports car, which cost 25 lakhs each for the first 25 units will become dearer by another INR 5 lakhs.
DC Design currently has 14 showrooms spread across the country, which it plans to take up to 17 by February. As it gets into the business of car manufacturing DC will continue to customise vehicles.
