DC Design Avanti Supercar Production Set To Start

DC Design, India's leading and most well known car design house will begin production its first ever vehicle starting from late 2013. Towards this end, the Dilip Chhabria led design firm will set up its own manufacturing facility at Sanand in Gujarat with an investment of INR 60 crores.

The Avanti sports car was unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and DC Design aims to sell the car for a starting price of INR 25 lakhs. Besides the Avanti, DC Design also plans to start producing a sports SUV in 2014. The Sanand plant will have an annual capacity of 3500 cars.

"I want DC Design to manufacture limited edition cars. Once we are done with 4000 units of one variant, we would phase that out and introduce a new model in the market. With aspirational young executives getting on board to own their sports car and luxury cars, we have decided to operate in the 25-30 lakh segment," Dilip Chhabria told ET.
