British PM: Proud Tata Makes JLR

On a three day visit to India, British Prime Minister David Cameron made a statement that will certainly bring a smile upon any Indian auto enthusiast's face. While addressing the staff of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) at the company's headquarters, David Cameron said that he is proud of the fact that Indian automaker Tata Motors manufacturers the British brands Jaguar and Land Rover.

He made the above statement while asserting that Britain has an incredibly open and welcoming economy. "We are incredibly welcoming. I am very proud of the fact that it is an Indian company, Tata, that makes Jaguars and Land Rovers that are taking the world by storm," David Cameron said. Cameron said he is impressed by the way Tata Motors has brought back life into Jaguar and Land Rover since its acquisition.

During the course of his visit, besides meeting Indian government officials, the British Prime Minister is also expected to hold talks with Indian automobile manufacturers, in a bid to further facilitate business ties.

Tata Motors completely took over the Jaguar and Land Rover brands in 2008 from Ford Motor Company, forming Jaguar Land Rover. The automaker has since then transformed the once loss making company back into an internationally successful manufacturer of luxury models. Some of the models introduced under Tata Motors ownership include Range Rover Evoque and Jaguar F-Type.
