Datsun Go For India; Entry Level Hatchback From Datsun
Datsun, a Japanese automobile brand owned by Nissan came into being in 1914. The Datsun brand was earlier known as DAT, which meant ‘lightning fast', and was promoted as Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy. In 1986, Nissan phased out the Datsun name, but revived the brand in 2013.
Datsun have set-up a Pan-India roadshow campaign, which showcases the entry level hatchback 'GO'. Over 90 cities, will witness the new compact car at prominent locations.The Pan-India campaign will provide an opportunity to potential customers to experience the car prior launch.

Nissan, the parent company of Datsun held a press conference on December 14, 2013. During the conference, Datsun revealed details about it's upcoming model GO. Here are a few surprising elements of the GO, that shocked us!
Datsun's GO is a modern hatchback, designed to enhance driving experience. To compete in the ever-growing hatchback segment, the GO will get a 1.2 liter petrol engine which is mated to a five speed gearbox. Datsun's upcoming model GO will compete against Maruti's Alto 800 and Hyundai's Eon.

The Datsun engineers have paid special attention to the car's external dimension. Congested roads and potholes are a given in metro cities, thus ground clearance has been carefully looked into. The GO's dimension are compact, measuring in at a width of 1635 mm, height 1485 mm, length 3785 mm.
Surprisingly the car is spacious due to it's long wheelbase of 2450 mm. The GO offers ample amount of headroom and decent legroom, which will be an instant hit with families.

Folks nowadays prefer to carry entertainment in their pockets and GO's mobile docking system will play all your music. You just need to dock your smartphone and listen-up!
Datsun GO seems to be an interesting package, however pricing is critical. The car is built in India and targeted at first time car buyers. The company has confirmed a sub Rs 4 lakh price tag for GO's top variant.
The Japanese manufacturer plans to attract customers by offering an easy to own and low on maintenance car.

Datsun is in the process of selecting and spreading it's dealer network. For the moment, they aren't sure whether to use Nissan's dealer network to sell their cars. Dealer's would be established and announced during launch.
The new model from Datsun is scheduled to launch during the auto expo. The auto expo held in February, 2014 is a major event for automobile manufacturers. Auto giants use the expo as a platform to showcase their future models for India and global markets.

India's economic growth is witnessing a downslide. However, Datsun is excited and confident to launch it's first entry level hatchback GO in 2014.
