Citroen C-Elysee WTCC Racer For Sebastien Loeb
Citroen is riding high on their impressive Pikes Peak Hill Climb victory, courtesy for their star driver, the nine time World Rally Champion, Sebastien Loeb, who absolutely obliterated the record time for the hill climb.
Going ahead, the French automaker is preparing to participate in its first World Touring Car Championship next year with the hope that Loeb will drive them to victory once again. Citroen has now revealed the first renderings of the WTCC car which Loeb will be driving - the C-Elysee WTCC racer.

C-Elysee compact sedan
The C-Elysee WTCC racer is based on the C-Elysee compact sedan shown in the image. What better way to add some spark to a rather dull image of a city car than winning a touring car championship.

Engine
The engine powering the C-Elysee WTCC, however, is the same 1.6 liter direct fuel inject unit used in the DS3 WRC racer. The engine now delivers 380 HP and 400 Nm torque.

Wheels
The car will have a front wheel drive configuration, featuring a six speed sequential gearbox and self locking differential. The wheels will be large 18 inch dia units shod in Yokohama tyres. Sport suspension will come from MacPherson.

Public debut
The car will be on display in September at the Frankfurt auto show.

Frédéric Banzet
"Choosing C-Elysée as the basis for our WTCC car reflects very clearly our determination to use racing as an active means of supporting our commercial development," stated Citroen CEO Frédéric Banzet. "With rounds in Latin America, Morocco, China and Russia, the WTCC race calendar is genuinely global, and it will be a real advantage to run a C-Elysée, a key driver of our growth, in front of large crowds of enthusiastic motorsport fans."
