Renault COO Carlos Tavares Quits
Carlos Tavares, Chief Operating Officer of French automobile company Renault has resigned from his position. The reason behind his decision is not known, but in its official response Renault states Tavares has quit "in order to pursue other personal projects."
It is highly doubtful ‘personal projects' are the reason behind Tavares decision to leave Renault. A change of company is the more likely reason. In fact, in a recent interview given to Bloomberg, Tavares had clearly stated his interests in moving over to an American firm such as Ford or General motors.

"My experience would be good for any car company," Tavares had said "Why not GM? I would be honoured to lead a company like GM. Anyone who is passionate about the auto industry comes to a conclusion that there is a point where you have the energy and appetite for a No.1 position."
Carlos Tavares has been with Renault since 1981, a remarkably long duration and has led the company as COO since early 2011. Till the time a replacement is appointed Carlos Ghosn, CEO of the Renault-Nissan alliance will manage the operations at Renault.
One among his several notable contributions to Renalt would be resurection of the Alpine brand with a supercar program, in association with Caterham.
