The Can-Am eCommander Concept From BRP
BRP's (Bombardier Recreational Products) Can-Am Commander 1000 XT is a popular utility vehicle due to its versatility. With its 976cc Rotax V-Twin delivering 85 HP, all wheel drive drivetrain and 27-inch Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires, the latest Can-Am Commander is good enough to get some serious work done and at the same time is also an amazing machine to drive around rough terrain for fun.
The automaker is looking to replicate the features of the Can-Am Commander with a new concept model. The major difference being, the concept called eCommander is an electric side-by-side vehicle. Check out the images in the gallery below.

The Can-Am eCommander concept, first introduced in 2012, is powered by a lithium ion battery pack, with an operating voltage of 48V.

The 21.2 kWh battery pack is good for 23kW of peak electric power. Top speed achievable by the electric is side-by-side is 40km/h.

Like its engine powered cousin, the eCommander also offers selectable 2WD and 4WD options, with individually locking front and rear differentials.

The Can-Am eCommander displays an impressive range of 160 km.

With its fast charging capability, the battery can be brought up to full charge in 2 hours. The battery also charges through regenerative braking.
