BMW India Increases Car Prices By 6%

German premium carmaker BMW has announced a increase in prices of its entire range of cars by up to 6%. The new prices will be effective with immediate effect. Both BMW and Mini cars will be expensive.

In a company statement, BMW India has stated: " BMW Group India has announced a price increase for the BMW and Mini product range effective January 1, 2013." The price hike will range between 5% and 6%.

The prices of BMW cars in India will now range between Rs.25.50 lakhs and Rs.1.42 crores. BMW's cheapest car in India is the X1 crossover while the most expensive car is the top of the range 760 Li from the 7-Series.

Mini branded cars will also be dearer and the Mini Cooper's price will be Rs.26.60 lakhs and the Mini Countryman's revised price has been fixed at Rs.37.50 lakhs.

BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr while speaking about the new prices said: "We want to maintain sustainable leadership in the Indian market with a strong brand and an exceptional model range with unbeatable product substance. With the price increase, BMW Group will maintain its premium positioning in the Indian luxury car segment."

A price hike from BMW was not unexpected as all major carmaker had already announced they would increase prices from January. Mercedes-Benz India announced its revised price list yesterday.
