Audi’s Ultra-Light TT Ultra Quattro Concept
At the Worthersee show this year Audi will showcase a high performance TT Ultra Quattro concept car that will offer the performance of a heavy weight such as the TT RS Plus, but in a significantly light package. The Worthersee show will be held between May 8 and 11 in Reifnitz, Austria.
The Worthersee show is an exclusive Volkswagen car show that is held beside the Worthersee lake. The car show has been held since 1981. Audi has released the first images of the TT Ultra Quattro concept, seen in the gallery below.

The whole idea about Audi TT Ultra Quattro concept is centered around shedding as much weight as possible. The concept weights only 1,111 kg, which is about 300 kg lighter than a production TT model.

The weight reduction has been achieved with the use of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). The car uses plenty of it, from the b-pillar to the roof to the rear of the car. In addition, the floor is made using magnesium as well as the hinge reinforcement.

Furthermore, Fibreglass-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) has been used to make the coil springs in the suspension as well as the bucket seats.

Audi has, however, retained amenities such as air-con, electric window controls and an electromechanical parking brake. The outside rear view mirrors have been replaced with cameras that feed live image directly to the cockpit.

Powering the Audi TT Ultra Quattro Concept is a 2.0 TFSI engine developing rated at 310 HP and 400 Nm of torque that is available right from 1,900 rpm.

All that weight saving means the car achieves an impressive power to weight ratio of 3.6 kg/HP. The Audi TT Ultra Quattro concept can go from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, which is 1.3 seconds faster than a production TT model and only 0.1 seconds slower than the TT RS Plus that uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine.
