Audi Q8, A Range Rover Sport Rival To Debut Soon
Audi recently became the India's No. 1 in the luxury car maker, which goes well for its global growth strategy. The plan is to capture every market segment possible. This includes its plan to offer vehicles to cover every SUV segment, from the small to the very large.
Autocar India has now learned, from non other than Audi's research and development head, Wolfgang Dürheimer, that the company's plan to bring out the Q8 full sized SUV. An SUV that will take on rival Land Rover's Range Rover Sport. When it comes out the Q8 will be the largest SUV offered not just by Audi, but even the VW Group.
According to the report, the Audi Q8 will sport a coupe style design, more like a high riding A8 sedan. The Audi Q8 will use the VW Group's next generation MLB platform, which will be extended suitably to accommodate the longer body. The MLB platform is VW Group's universal next-gen platform that will be made use of by several vehicles, from the next gen Q7, Bentley, Lamborghini and VW SUVs to Porsche Cayenne and Panamera.
"We can go bigger than we have with the Q7, and we can all see that this sector is growing," said Dürheimer told Autocar. "Audi has the biggest SUV in the group, and I don't see any reason to change that."
