Audi A4 177 HP 2.0 TDI Diesel With Drive Select Now Available
Audi India, rather silently, has introduced an upgraded engine for the A4 saloon. The new diesel engine is actually a replacement for the model that was on offer currently.
The Audi A4 lineup in India comes with the following engines
Petrol
1.8 liter TFSI petrol, rated at 170 HP and 350 Nm torque
2.0 liter TFSI petrol, rated at 140 HP and 320 Nm torque
Diesel
2.0 liter turbo diesel, rated at 143 HP and 380 Nm torque
3.0 liter turbo diesel, rated at 245 HP and 500 Nm torque
The engine that has now been replaced is the 2.0 liter turbo diesel. In its lower state of tune the 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine delivered a lot less power compared to rivals cars from the segment. In fact, the power rating was comparable to sedans from lower segments belonging to the VW group, such as Skoda laura, VW Jetta.
This meant the 2.0 liter diesel A4 sedan was overpriced for the performance it offered. That problem has been taken care of with the uptuned engine. In its new state of tune the 2.0 liter turbo diesel generates 177 HP and 380 Nm of torque.
In addition, the CVT transmission previously offered with the particular A4 trim has made way for an 8 speed automatic, with Drive Select technology, which still drives the front wheels. Drive Select allows the driver to select from a choice of three driving modes - Comfort, Dynamic and Custom.
The new Audi A4 2.0 turbo diesel engine is priced at INR 31,74,000 (ex-showroom, Mumbai)
