Aston Martin V12 Vantage S With The AM28 Engine

Aston martin promised to bring race car technology to its road cars. It has kept its promise with the all new V12 Vantage S. The most powerful and the fastest regular production Aston Martin ever. Only the One-77 hypercar surpases it in performance, but that was a limited edition model.

At the heart of the new V12 Vantage S is the new fifth generation engine, codenamed AM28. One major change the new 5.9 liter V12 engine brings over the fourth generation AM11 is the addition of a Bosch Engine Management System. The AM28 generates 55 HP more than the outgoing V12 Vantage, while torque figure is up by 37 lb-ft. This has resulted in a top speed that has gone up from 305 km/h to 330 km/h and 0-100 km/h can now be reached in less than 4 seconds.

Also new is the seven-speed automated manual Sportshift III AMT transaxle transmission, similar to what is used by Aston's FIA GT race cars. The new gearbox is 25 kg lighter than the outgoing unit. Better road and track performance comes via three new driving modes - Normal', 'Sport' and 'Track'. Selecting one of these alters the damping, providing better control depending on the road type. A new exhaust system derived from the One-77 will give the new Vantage S its signature audio cue.

In terms of design, the new V12 Vantage wears the future Aston martin grille design that debuted with the CC100 Speedster concept. Also new are the 10 spoked alloy wheels. Dr Bez added: "The new V12 Vantage S is our most extreme Vantage to date - engineered to bring race car performance and technology to the open road. He added, "It is our most powerful engine in a beautifully tailored suit. It is elegant, yet brutal, and it is at the same time easy to control. It has everything that sums up Aston Martin: power, beauty and soul!"
