Aston Martin, the venerable British sports car brand has entered its 100th year. Aston Martin is celebrating the whole year of 2013 as its centenary year with a series of events in England and other countries.

Aston Martin was founded way back in 1903 and has a history that people associated with the brand can be proud of. It built its name as a fast car brand in its initial years itself by winning several motor sport events. The following years saw the development of the Aston Martin brand topped by the launch of the iconic DB5 which incidentally was also James Bond's preferred car in the movie series.

Aston Martin has had a chequered history when it comes its owners. Aston Martin has changed hands several times. The latest owner, Kuwaiti firm Investment Dar had discretely revealed plans to sell a stake in the company. Indian SUV specialist Mahindra was in the race to buy Aston Martin but the deal did not materialize.
