Apple Looking To Use iOS Devices To Personalise Cars
We all know Apple really wants to see a future where every car infotainment system is controlled by a universal operating system (read iOS). Towards this end, the Cupertino tech giant even introduced ‘iOS in The Car', an iOS 7 feature which allows you to control several in-car functions using any iOS 7 device.
But a new patent application filed by Apple, brought to light by the unofficial web blog, reveals the company's plans for vehicle control goes further than just iOS in the car. A future implementation of technology let you automatically set in-car preferences, not just in your car, but any car you are in.

For example, your wife's car may have preferences according to her tastes and preferences. Such as seat height, steering wheel tilt angle, a favourite FM station, air-con temperature so and so forth. Now, when you borrow your wife's car you will have to manually change the everything to make yourself comfortable. But imagine that car is connected your iOS device. As soon as you enter it all the settings and preferences would change automatically, so that your feel at home, or car in this case, immediately.
The technology's use does not have to be limited to cars owned by you, as the patent application's abstract explains, "A user's portable electronic device can learn configuration preferences from a first environment, such as the user's car, and when the user visits another similar environment, such as a rented automobile, those configuration preferences can be imported into the visited environment and used to automatically configure the environment according to the imported preferences."
Clearly, for that to happen there is still a long way to go. But you have to start somewhere. So, what do you think about Apple's grand plan?
