Toyota Innova (Kijang) Receives Facelift In Indonesia
India's most successful large MPV, Toyota Innova has carved out a separate market for itself which remains unaffected even with the appearance of new models from competitors. However, every once in awhile Toyota does need to bring out a facelifted version to attract new customer and get back old ones.
Since its launch Toyota has received just two major facelifts in India. The last one was introduced last year at the 2012 Auto Expo so you could say Innova is due for another facelift soon. It so happens that in Indonesia, where the MPV is sold as Kijang, it has received that very third iteration of makeover.
Here is what's new. The front end is entirely different. The front grille, with plenty of chrome, is large and broad and also replaces the lower air dam (now a narrower, but stylish bumper) from the previous model. The fog lamp housing features a new design as well, along with chrome surrounds.
At the rear, clearly seen is the long chrome stripe running the length of the rear door handle and it comes with integrated, narrow brake/reverse lamps.
This facelift extends to new features in the top spec trim as well such as a new sound system. safety features such as twin airbags, ABS, EBD are on the other hand are standard on all variants of the Toyota Kijang.
No changes have been made in the hardware department though. Toyota Innova in India is likely to come wearing the new face next year. The facelift will most likely be seen at the Auto Expo in early 2014.
