2014 Toyota Corolla Revealed
The all new 2014 Toyota Corolla has been revealed in the U.S., the sedan's largest market. The new Corolla, based on the Furia concept car showcased in January in Detroit, is sporty and muscular, clearly targeted at a younger age group of buyers. The new Toyota Corolla, sold as the Corolla Altis in India, will be launched here in early 2014.
In the U.S the new Corolla will be available with two 1.8 liter four cylinder engines, which have been refined to be more efficient and delivers 132 HP and 140 HP in the Eco variant. Engine variants in India will also remain the same, but will be improved the same way. What will be new though is the 7 speed CVT automatic transmission, which will come with the petrol engine.
In the U.S the new Corolla now comes with LED headlights as standard in all variants and also new are the 17 inch alloy wheels. Check out the other changes in the gallery below.

Most prominent of all changes is the new face that comes straight from the Furia concept, albeit without the more radical design highlights of the concept car.

New are the narrower headlights that integrate with the front grille. Also new is thick band running across the face which defines the front end gives it a bolder look.

The Corolla has been given some muscle and crease lines to make it bolder and sportier.

Clearly seen here is the shoulder line, running across the body.

The new Corolla gets wrap around rear lights.

The sedan now has a wheelbase that is 100 mm longer, which increases the overall length to 4639 mm.

The interior looks now looks particularly premium, though the materials used will certainly change when it hits India. The new Corolla comes with a touchscreen infotainment system, a faux aluminium trim that contrasts with the rest of the dark interior.

Overall, the 11th generation, 2014 Toyota Corolla gives the impression of a sedan that wants to shed its conservative image and wants to join a newer breed of sporty sedans. Whether or not the new look of the world's best selling nameplate appeal to the buyers is something we'll hvae to wait and watch.
