Mini To Unveil 2014 Model On November 18
First came the undisguised spy shots, several of them, followed by BMW official ‘spy shot' (seen below). It has finally been confirmed that the next gen Mini will make its debut on November 18 at its Oxford plant.
Mini has selected November 18 as the date to unveil the 4th generation Mini because this day marks the 107th birth anniversary of Sir Alec Issigonis, the person who gave birth to the original Mini design, back in 1959.
To mark the event Mini will hold a special event in its Oxford facility, where Mini cars have been continuously manufactured from the very beginning. This will be followed by a party in London.
Conveniently, both the Tokyo Motor Show and the Los Angeles Auto Show fall just two days after, on November 20. The new Mini will be put on display during both events.
Mini has announced that the next gen model will become available worldwide in the first quarter of 2014. Naturally, the new Mini will be followed by a sportier John Cooper Works and a convertible version.
The 2014 Mini will be the first Mini to be built on parent company, BMW's UKL platform. This chassis supports both front and all wheel drive configurations. Also, the new Mini will enjoy the new breed of BMW engines. The new turbocharged 1.5 liter three cylinder petrol and diesel units.
