2014 BMW X5 Revealed: Image Gallery
The all new 2014 BMW X5, earlier known by the codename F15, has been officially revealed. Going by BMW's new Sports Activity Vehicle naming and associated design ideas the mid-level premium SUV has been given a more sporty look. However, a more important change comes in the form the addition of a new variant with rear wheel drive configuration.
While engine options will vary depending on the region we can say with some confidence that India will get the rear wheel variant due to the fact that they are more fuel efficient. While Europe will get a rear wheel drive variant of X5 sDrive25d, in North America it will be the X5 sDrive35i.
The new BMW X5 has been redesigned quite extensively. The front looks a lot bolder and muscular, thanks to a more prominent twin kidney grille. The headlamp cluster now extend to join the twin kidney grille and the side front side air intakes gets new contours, which not only add to the broader look, but also perform aerodynamic functions controlling air flow over the front wheels.
The second row seats can now be folded in the ratio of 40 : 20 : 40, which allows load capacity to be increased in stages from 23 cu.ft. - 66 cu.ft. (650 - 1,870 litres). This, BMW says, increases interior volume by 7 percent. Also new is the split two-section tailgate. Lastly, there are now several new larger door pockets.
BMW has added two new trim levels the 2014 X5 lineup - Luxury Line and xLine, which get several additional interior and exterior features. 2014 BMW X5 will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show later this year. Expect it to be launched in India early next year.
