2014 BMW 5 Series Facelift Unveiled

The 2014 model year BMW 5 Series has been unveiled with several small design changes, added standard and optional features, equipments and a brand new diesel engine. The 2014 BMW 5 Series, offered in Sedan, Touring, Gran Turismo and ActiveHybrid 5 models (not available in India) is the sixth generation 5 Series.

Starting with the exterior, new contour lines have been added, most prominently around the kidney grille as well as the rear of the car. Additional chrome stripes highlight the fog lamp surrounds and the rear apron. Other changes come in the form of redesigned lights, LED fog lights, ORVM with integrated indicator lights and new a alloy wheel design. Also, Xenon headlights are now offered as standard, while adaptive LED headlamps are optional.

Moving on to the interior, chrome makes it in here as well, with the Central Display of the iDrive operating system bordered in chrome stripe. Cup holders are now more spacious, so is the overall interior space, including the boot, which now measures 500 liters. Several upgrades now feature in the iDrive system, which can now convert touch to characters to input preassigned destination or to access other iDrive functions. Other standard features include a new Harman Kardon Surround Sound system, ambient light which can switch between white and orange, new display system at the rear, among others.

The new entry level diesel engine is the 518d. This turbocharged four cylinder engine is rated at 143 HP, but it is not expected to arrive in India. 2014 BMW 5 Series facelift will arrive in India during the later half of the year.
